Phrase Break — Word-Reveal Phrase Board
A hidden phrase sits behind blank tiles under a category and clue. Players call letters to flip every match open; a miss costs a strike and the turn. Magenta vs Amber team play scores across rounds, while solo play gives one learner a fixed pool of guesses before the phrase locks. Optional turn timer, on-screen scoring, and full keyboard play. Ships as a blank, commented template.
- Problem
- Terminology and policy phrasing don't stick from a slide; learners need to reconstruct the exact wording themselves.
- Who it helps
- Facilitators reinforcing key terms, policy language, or process phrases — two teams head-to-head or one learner against the clock.
- In training
- Call letters to reveal a hidden phrase under its category and clue; teams trade turns and bank points across rounds, or a solo learner races to solve each phrase before the strikes run out.
- Skills shown
- Front-end build, reveal and turn/scoring logic, retrieval-practice design, trainer-editable template.
