Why it works: ask a room to rank what it wants and everything comes back important. Make them pay out of one pot and the ranking does itself — not by argument, but by what they let go past. The interesting moment is never the lot somebody wins. It is the lot a team wanted and sat out because they had already spent, and the room watching them sit out.
Say the lot out loud before you take a bid. The tension is in the pause where nobody wants to open, and you should let it sit.
